AGNES LIM CV

Agnes Lim is a practising ceramics artist working primarily with porcelain, with a progressive approach that underlines the importance of constantly pushing past the boundaries. Her connection to clay began in 1996 with an introductory course in pottery-making at the Temasek Polytechnic School of Design led by renowned Singapore ceramicist Dr Iskandar Jalil, and was cemented when she began her apprenticeship with the master potter in 2002. She then began practising and teaching at Temasek Potters (2010–2019), an artist-led ceramics studio and teaching centre led by Dr. Iskandar. A 2016 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale finalist, she has participated in various group exhibitions since 1997 and has been commissioned by both public institutions and private organisations including the Public Utilities Board and Temasek Culinary Academy.

Life is like clay work. Each work tells its own story; each lump of clay you mould is beset with its own specific set of challenges. Once what is needed is understood, with care, peace, and persistence, the clay can be turned into a beautiful creation.
