Evert Den Hartog is a sculptor who was educated at the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts and was taught by Arie Teeuwisse and Bram Roth in the early 1970s. He started out by making ceramic sculptures before moving on to work on bronze. Most sculptures that he has created are of animals frozen in a moment. Hartog beautiful works include birds, pumas, elephants, polar bears, rabbits, hares, bulls and many more.

He captures his animals in different postures; and often injecting them with a spark of humour. His sculptures have smooth surfaces, very much like polished stone, and have an abstract style without excessive detail. Manner Hartog’s imagination and superb craftsmanship and the unique patina he uses have produced elegant sculptures that look very alive and are always pleasing to look at.

Hartog’s sculptures are recognised globally and he has been commissioned for works that are now installed in Kobe, Dallas, Jakarta and Antwerp. In the Netherlands, his sculptures can be found in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Voorschoten, Venlo and many other places in the Netherlands.
