eeshaun CV

Eeshaun is an artist, illustrator, and educator. His drawings and paintings explore non-linear, spontaneous, and open-ended narratives in drawing that express the subconscious mind, a reaction to the systematic planning, regularity, and austerity of Singapore society. Often unplanned, his abstract, non-conceptual paintings are an experiential and experimental process; fraught with uncertainty and opportunity, and riddled with both control and joyful abandonment as he juxtaposes shapes, lines, and planes into a complex, grid-like web of harmonious colours and playful forms filled with objects and characters.

Since 2005, he has created artwork and illustrations for Adidas, Nike, Lacoste, Disney, Singapore Fashion Festival, Herman Miller, and Kiehl’s. Ee Shaun is also an Asian Kinetic Artist for Tiger Translate 2007 and was also featured in 20/20 BASE at the Singapore Design Festival in 2007. In 2008, he was commissioned with FARM by the DesignSingapore Council to design the Singapore Pavilion for the 11th Venice Architectural Biennale. His largest public art installation, Move!, was commissioned by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore in 2009 at the Bishan Circle Line station. Ee Shaun presented a site-specific interactive light installation at i Light Marina Bay Singapore in 2014 and has been a National Arts Council-appointed NOISE visual art mentor since 2009. He is a recipient of the 2011 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
