Different Strokes, Modern Visions of Asia

Private Event with CitiGold,
Cuscaden Branch, Singapore

The trio of artists unveils diverse expressions, each stemming from the tapestry of contemporary Asia. Kamol Tamseewan and Jirapat Tatsanasombon, hailing from Thailand, skillfully breathe new life into their familiar subjects through inventive metaphors. Meanwhile, Chinese sculptor Shi Wei infuses his creations with the angst and ambiguity emblematic of modern existence.

Kamol's monochromatic portraits, boldly sprawled across expansive canvases, blend abstraction with realism—an arresting visual feast brimming with vitality and motion. Jirapat, in turn, weaves entertaining and thought-provoking compositions, capturing the unmistakable essence of Thai culture through vibrant colors, symbolic motifs, and intriguing juxtapositions.

Shi Wei's sculptures, on the other hand, present women who are simultaneously liberated and sensual, yet constrained by societal norms of desirability. His work delves into the complex interplay of individuality and conformity, inviting viewers to contemplate the intricacies of modern existence. Together, these three artists offer a rich panorama of contemporary Asian art, where tradition meets innovation, and cultural narratives unfold in diverse and compelling ways.
